avast! antivirus Kerio Edition

avast! para Kerio es una versión especial de avast! antivirus, diseñado exclusivamente para cooperación con productos desarrollados por Tecnologías Kerio.

Actualmente, avast! para Kerio soporta los siguientes productos:

Antivirus kernel

New version of avast! antivirus kernel features excellent detection capabilities, combined with high performance (data throughput). You can expect 100% detection of ITW viruses/worms (In-The-Wild, i.e. the really spreading ones) and a very good detection of Trojan horses, all that with a minimum number of false alarms.

The kernel was certified by ICSA; it frequently takes part in the tests of Virus Bulletin magazine, yielding the VB100% award multiple times.

Updater

Updater is the second component of avast! for Kerio. It provides both manual and fully automatic mode.

In the manual mode, the user (administrator) has to perform the update by pressing the corresponding button in the user interface, or by running a special batch file.

The automatic mode downloads and installs the updates according to a preset time interval. The automatic updates are activated by default, with the time interval set to 4 hours. This interval is short enough to provide high level of protection on all occasions. Thanks to our technology of incremental updates, the size of the data necessary to transfer is very low (even in the case when no update is available on the server - it is hundreds of bytes in such a case). A typical size of virus database update are tens of KB.

AVAST Software performs the virus database updates twice a week, in case of serious new virus infections immediately.

User interface

avast! for Kerio contains even a simple user interface, offering you the basic control of the program. Using this interface, you can also set the parameters of automatic updates.

It should be made clear that avast! for Kerio does NOT contain a common scanner to search for viruses in the file system (either on demand or resident). You should get e.g. avast! Server Edition, if you need such a scanner.

Kerio product integration

avast! for Kerio is mainly a technological product - it does not perform any scanning itself. The scanning requests are given by the Kerio product themselves - and it is necessary to configure them accordingly (so that they know they should use avast!).
